Promoting Voluntary Action for the Welfare and Developemnt of Tribals in India

The Prime objective of public cooperation is to enhance the reach of welfare schemes of Government and fill the gaps service deficient tribal areas in the sectors such as education;  health and sanitation; drinking water;  agro-horticultural productivity;  social security; preservation, protection and promotion of tribal culture etc. Through the efforts of Voluntary Organizations (VOs) and Non – Governmental Organizations  (NGOs), and to provide an environment for socio economic upliftment and overall development of the Scheduled Tribes (STs). Any other innovative activity having direct impact on the socio economic development or  livelihood generation of STs may also be taken up through partnership with VO/NGO/Public Bodies.

While the ultimate objective is delivery of services to remote and unreached tribal areas, it is equally important to emphasize and continually put to tests, at regular intervals, the standard of services provided.  Each partner VO/NGO/Public Body,  therefore,  is expected to strive towards delivery of quality services.

The Ministry, as a part of promotion of voluntary efforts for the welfare and development of  tribals, would facilitate capacity development of partner VOs, NGOs, Public Bodies Community-Based Organizations, in particular, the Traditional Tribal Institutions (TTIs)
